1 billion women are projected to experience the symptoms of perimenopause by 2025. Let me say that again - 1 BILLION.
That is almost the entire population of China or India (the top two most populous countries in the world) experiencing hot flashes, increased anxiety, cycle irregularities and brain fog. And there isn’t really a hard start date. You don’t know that you’re in it, until you’re really in it. Which can be as early as your mid-30’s.
Why should we be talking about this?
-There is a lack of information and support. Not to mention the stigma that is inevitable when discussing female hormones.
-Validation is extremely important - many women who complain about perimenopause symptoms are simply…dismissed. According to a report published in the New York Times, female patients (especially women of color) are more likely to have their symptoms dismissed by medical providers.
-We need to destigmatize menopause and supporting women's health.
- Naomi Watts: Watts is the co-founder of Onda Beauty and has a personal commitment to clean skincare, wellness and destigmatising menopause. “In partnering with Amyris, we’re endeavouring to equip all phases of menopause with products, tools and resources that make us feel celebrated and empowered, both physically and emotionally,” she said.
Knowledge is power. We’re working towards learning more about perimenopause, its symptoms, and how to navigate this phase of life with confidence.
